This was the second product from Barry Farms I've tried and I was not disappointed. The jam definitely hits the spot when spread on a slice of toast. Move over grape jelly, Barry Farms' Strawberry Rhubarb jam is my new love!

I got this for my mom who is a cantalope lover. She liked it. Good jam, though it was a little strange to have cantalope on my toast at first. It wasn't bad but I don't think I'll order this again. If you like cantalope, give it a try.

For those that have negative comments about the product...please check out the Betty Crocker website...it would take you less time to get all the information you are looking for than to write the negative reviews. By the way, yes, these products are made in a gluten free facility...Betty Crocker has a whole website dedicated to their new gluten free products and definitely worth checking out.
Now - I've given up on trying to make a gluten free yellow cake - I haven't liked any of my recipes or any mixes...Until the new Betty Crocker mix. It really is yummy and has GREAT texture - very smooth and moist. will buy over and over again!!! Thanks Betty Crocker!

Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1 lb. Review

Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1 lb.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am admittedly a big fan of Barry Farm products. They make just about any food, veggie, dairy product, or spice in either a freeze dried or powdered form. As an outdoor enthusiast that enjoys carrying along a little taste of home into the savage wilderness, this is a company that I am well familiar with. Not everything they make is delicious, or worth it. My experience with them however is that most of their products are just about the finest, and many times the only ones around. This cheddar cheese powder is definitely one of their best. Many reviewers here mention making macaroni and cheese, and popcorn with it. Although I have used it for those purposes like everyone else, I have also used this powder as an addition to many soups that call for cheese, or grated cheese. (It makes a very flavorful substitute for grated cheese in many recipes.) Hamburger and sausage soups are a good example. Many times I have concocted delicious one pot meals using this powder while out in the wilds on a hike, or camping. They are remembered as some of the best meals I have ever had. It is also very good when sprinkled on home made pizza, and I have an excellent recipe that includes this powder, butter, flour, and salt, that makes a delicious cheese spread for crackers and super bowl parties. Barry Farms cheddar powder is strong and flavorful, and a little goes a long ways. A one pound bag will get you through many a recipe and outdoor adventure. However since the shipping on this is a little high, (and the powder so reasonable) I suggest buying two pounds or more at once and storing it in a good air tight container. You will save a lot on the shipping, and this powder will last for months if stored correctly. I highly recommend this cheddar powder for those that enjoy the simple pleasures of popcorn and mac and cheese, as well as the more adventurous among us in the kitchen, and over an open fire...

Vitalicious Chocolate Fig Vita Tops, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24) Review

Vitalicious Chocolate Fig Vita Tops, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24)
Average Reviews:

I'm so glad I ordered the chocolate fig Vita Tops - they're very tasty. They're just like the deep chocolate Vita Tops, but with little chunks of figs sprinkled throughout. The fig taste is noticeable but mild, and the figs add a nice bit of sweet, chewiness. I love all of the chocolate Vita products - the deep chocolate tops (and muffins), the peanut butter chip tops, the triple chocolate chunk tops, and the Vita brownies. The corn Vita Tops are decent. The only varieties I didn't care for were the cran-bran and the banana nut. If you're going to try a Vita product for the first time, go with one of the chocolate flavors.

Great sweet potato flour! I would buy again from this farm. They did a great job. I would recommend buying two or three bags if you plan on using a lot. I bought this and the blue cornmeal flour which was fantastic.
FYI - To avoid higher shipping - buy larger quantities or a variety of flours. I made that mistake and was surprised at the charge due to the flour weight. You can trust this vender. They do take a little over a week to get their product to you but it's worth it.

Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Organic Sprouted Grain Cereal, Cinnamon Raisin, 16-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

I love Ezekiel products. No flour=no fat gain. I use Ezekiel for bodybuilding because they make the most nutritional grains that provide sustained energy with a minimal insulin response, and of course they are a reputable ALL NATURAL company. Flour containing products are not as healthy and spike insulin (causing fat gain) compared to than sprouted grains, so to me flour has no place in everday diet (occasional desserts are a different story). I don't even have anything to comare Ezekiel to because nothing else I know of is flourless in terms of bread or cereal. Great products! Of course raisin is the best tasting of the cereals in my opinion but the others are fine too. They are a bit pricy, but you really do get what you pay for.
You know why many big name cereals (or any product for that matter) costs less?
1. lower quality ingredients
2. they add nutritionally USELESS things like trans fat (if you see the word 'hydrogenated' in the ingredients, there are trans fats present. Yes, even if the label says 0g trans fat because that actually means

Millet flour is great for my gluten free recipes (just remember the xanthan gum). This company takes a little while for shipping and the shipping is a little high, but, the products they sell are cheaper than anywhere else with a greater variety offered.

According to the FDA, the reason for the recall was:
"The firm decided to recall the wheat flour products they repack that do not declare "wheat" on the finished product labels." ([...])
So there is really nothing wrong with the product itself and it should be rather obvious that Gluten Flour should contain wheat unless indicated otherwise....

Kinnikinnick Foods Gluten-Free Bread & Bun Mix, Kinni-Kwik, 35.5-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) Review

Kinnikinnick Foods Gluten-Free Bread and Bun Mix, Kinni-Kwik, 35.5-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

We've been gluten free and yeast free for a few years now. In the beginning we couldn't find a bread that resembled "real" bread. Then we tried this mix. The first week we had it we went into bread overload - made french toast, toast and eggs, sandwiches, everything we'd been wanting for the last few years. It was wonderful. I fill mini baking dishes, sprinkle it with sesame seed and use it to make hamburger buns. We prefer it hot from the oven or toasted for sandwiches, Very simple, too, just add water (that's it) beat for 3 minutes in mixer and you have 2 loaves of bread 40 minutes later. Just spent the day driving around to our local health food stores for it but they were all out. Amazon's cheaper anyway and has free shipping on this item.

Oregon Fruit Boysenberries in Syrup, 15-Ounce Cans (Pack of 8) Review

Oregon Fruit Boysenberries in Syrup, 15-Ounce Cans (Pack of 8)
Average Reviews:

One can sells for 3.39 at my local grocery store, so with this special, it's about 2.16/can for 2 8 packs. What a bargain w/ FS. The fruit is soooooo tasty. I usually buy frozen, but this canned is better, so I've converted. I confess I eventually ate a whole can during one evening as a healthy plain fruit dessert since I kept going back for "seconds" a few times. Truly the next best thing to fresh.

Tapioca Flour, 1 lb. Review

Tapioca Flour, 1 lb.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Set bread maker to 'rapid'. Heat 1 cup milk, then add 3 egg whites and 1 egg. Add 1 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast, 3 tblspns maple syrup and 1/4 cup oil. Mix and put in breadmaker. Add 1 1/2 cups tapioca flour and 1 cup garbanzo flour. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon xantham gum over top then press 'start'. Use a spatula to scrape down sides and bottom of breadmix as it is mixing. Ensure mixture is moist enough to flatten out within 20 seconds (if it stays in a ball shape, it will turn out too dry).
This has made THE fluffiest, tastiest homemade bread I have tried (and I've tried LOTS!). Don't use potato flour. Sorghum flour makes it taste yucky. Rice flour takes away the fluffiness.

Shirleyj Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix - 4 Lbs Review

Shirleyj Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix - 4 Lbs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I normally like to make things like waffles and pancakes from scratch, but there are days when time is short and you don't want the hassle of mixing all of the ingredients. I suppose you could buy them frozen and pre-made, but I think a mix like this is a good compromise.
Shirley J Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix is easy to prepare, and the light, fluffy end-product tastes great. The plain pancakes are amazing and you can always add extras if you want--blueberries, banana, chocolate chips, etc.. My kids prefer them plain with a drizzle of maple syrup. Waffles are my favorite, but you need to add an egg and some oil when making them. No big deal, but it adds an extra step or two. They'll never top my Mom's homemade waffles, but if you add a little nutmeg and cinnamon, they come close.
The ingredients list is fairly wholesome, if not health store level, and one pancake (estimated at 57 grams) is 100 calories; before syrup or extra butter. My one concern is that sodium levels are rather high at approximately 340mg (14%). Three pancakes and you are almost at half the recommended daily allowance. Still, pancakes and waffles are usually a weekend treat so it isn't too big a deal.
Each four pound bag of mix will yield about 90 pancakes so you're looking at 11¢ per pancake, before shipping costs. Not a bad deal. If you don't want make them from scratch, and don't want to use frozen, then buttermilk pancakes and waffle made from the Shirly J mix could be your answer.
For an extra-indulgent treat, try making a sandwich from 2 waffles and some creamy coffee ice cream. Top it with whipped cream if you like. Now THAT's good eatin'!
~ Kort
