Weight Watchers Chocolate Cake, 6-Count Box (Pack of 6) Review

Weight Watchers Chocolate Cake, 6-Count Box (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Weight Watchers Chocolate Cakes are good tasting and even somewhat filling, but each one is very small. These are very rich and chocolaty so they might just be enough to satisfy your cravings. The first ingredient is sugar and each one has about 80 Calories and 12g Net Carbs (9g from sugar) so they really do need to be taken in moderation by serious dieters and possibly even avoided by most diabetics (like me).
Recommended, with the above caveats.

Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1 lb. Review

Cheddar Cheese Powder, 1 lb.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am admittedly a big fan of Barry Farm products. They make just about any food, veggie, dairy product, or spice in either a freeze dried or powdered form. As an outdoor enthusiast that enjoys carrying along a little taste of home into the savage wilderness, this is a company that I am well familiar with. Not everything they make is delicious, or worth it. My experience with them however is that most of their products are just about the finest, and many times the only ones around. This cheddar cheese powder is definitely one of their best. Many reviewers here mention making macaroni and cheese, and popcorn with it. Although I have used it for those purposes like everyone else, I have also used this powder as an addition to many soups that call for cheese, or grated cheese. (It makes a very flavorful substitute for grated cheese in many recipes.) Hamburger and sausage soups are a good example. Many times I have concocted delicious one pot meals using this powder while out in the wilds on a hike, or camping. They are remembered as some of the best meals I have ever had. It is also very good when sprinkled on home made pizza, and I have an excellent recipe that includes this powder, butter, flour, and salt, that makes a delicious cheese spread for crackers and super bowl parties. Barry Farms cheddar powder is strong and flavorful, and a little goes a long ways. A one pound bag will get you through many a recipe and outdoor adventure. However since the shipping on this is a little high, (and the powder so reasonable) I suggest buying two pounds or more at once and storing it in a good air tight container. You will save a lot on the shipping, and this powder will last for months if stored correctly. I highly recommend this cheddar powder for those that enjoy the simple pleasures of popcorn and mac and cheese, as well as the more adventurous among us in the kitchen, and over an open fire...

Vitalicious Chocolate Fig Vita Tops, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24) Review

Vitalicious Chocolate Fig Vita Tops, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm so glad I ordered the chocolate fig Vita Tops - they're very tasty. They're just like the deep chocolate Vita Tops, but with little chunks of figs sprinkled throughout. The fig taste is noticeable but mild, and the figs add a nice bit of sweet, chewiness. I love all of the chocolate Vita products - the deep chocolate tops (and muffins), the peanut butter chip tops, the triple chocolate chunk tops, and the Vita brownies. The corn Vita Tops are decent. The only varieties I didn't care for were the cran-bran and the banana nut. If you're going to try a Vita product for the first time, go with one of the chocolate flavors.

Vitalicious Multi Bran Vita Tops , 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24) Review

Vitalicious Multi Bran Vita Tops , 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24)

These are my favorite of the Vita Tops! They are tender and fluffy, and there are raisins inside. I like to put them in the toaster on a med-light setting--basically just enough to warm them and make the top a tad crispy.
You have to keep these in the freezer and take them out one at a time. I'll usually take one out at night, and it will be thawed by morning.
This makes a great breakfast, and at only 1 WW point, it makes a great start for the day! I'll be ordering more when my current supply runs low.

All-Bran Bran Buds, 17.7-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) Review

All-Bran Bran Buds, 17.7-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this product because I wanted to eat a healthy cereal and at the same time add more fiber to my diet. I chose All Bran because it did not contain aspartame. I got home and started reading the ingredients & realized the second ingredient is sugar and also contains high fructose corn syrup. It has 8 grams of sugar per serving, but they list a serving as only 1/3 cup. Who do they think they are kidding? An average American eats more than that for breakfast. Do they think consumers are stupid?
A box of Kashi 7 Whole Grain Flakes with Black Currants & Walnuts cereal lists a serving as 1 cup and contains only 10 grams of sugar for that whole cup. Uncle Sam cereal with Real Mixed Berries contains NO added sweetner of any kind and 1 cup of it contains only 2 grams of naturally occuring sugar coming mostly from the berries. Wow! You mean a cereal manufacturer is brave enough to make a cereal without adding sugar? Yes and it is good. In comparison eating 1 cup of All Bran Buds would be consuming 24 grams of sugar. No thanks!
If anyone at Kellogg's is reading this please know that people who are buying these types of cereals are not buying them primarily for the taste but for the health benefits. We are not the "Kindergarten Crowd" who needs sugar added to everything to get us to eat it. If I want to consume extra sugar I'll eat a cookie once in a while as a treat. If I am going to eat a cereal everyday to incorporate fiber into my diet it is not going to be one that has unneeded amounts of sugar.
Why can't the big name cereal manufacturers use stevia as an alternative sweetner? It has been used for years in Europe with no known side effects. The consumers buying these types of cereals who are trying to watch their sugar consumption and increase their fiber would gladly welcome less or preferably no sugar or a healthy sweetner such as stevia.

Oskri Dried Fruit, Cherries, 3.53-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) Review

Oskri Dried Fruit, Cherries, 3.53-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While reading through one of those lists advising me of what I should be eating in order to get all of the vitamins, minerals, bioflavinoids, and existential approval necessary for perfect health, I found that I should be eating dried cherries. On a regular basis. As in daily. So I went off to the store in search of dried cherries. It turns out that not only are dried cherries really good for you. They are also really expensive. Or dry as sawdust with about as much taste.
Oskri produces and packages some wonderful dried cranberries and I wondered if they did the same for cherries. It turns out that Oskri's dried cherries are just as wonderful as the dried cranberries. Like the cranberries, these are the whole fruit and not bits and pieces. The cherries have been pitted and doused with a touch of apple juice for a bit of extra sweetener and then dried. The end result is a dried cherry that retains the perfect amount of moisture and a deep rich flavor.
I've been mixing my own "trail mix" (it should probably be called "office mix") using Brazil nut, pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, and these dried cherries. Fabulous, healthy with just enough existential approval.

Warming this up in the microwave and eating with your morning coffee feels like you are sitting in a bakery. The banana nut smell doesn't disappoint. There is no fiber "cardboard" taste to it like a lot of other high fiber breakfast items have. No aftertaste. I was initially disappointed by the small size, but it is dense and as filling as an air filled bakery muffin. And the nuts stay cruncy, giving a nice texture. Yum!

I love all of the Vitalicious chocolate products I've tried so far - the deep chocolate Vita Muffins, the Vita Brownies, and now these Fudgy Peanut Butter Vita Tops. They're delicious and satisying and do make for a small but filling snack. I highly recommend them. I tried the banana nut and one of the bran (cran-bran, maybe - can't remember) Vita Muffins and didn't care for them at all. However, the chocolate products are fantastic! Don't compare them to traditional, fatty muffins and brownies, though, or you will be disappointed. They're still very tasty in their own right, and I used them as a nice end of day treat.

Vitalicious VitaMuffin Mix, BlueBran, 13.5-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 3) Review

Vitalicious VitaMuffin Mix, BlueBran, 13.5-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 3)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a *BIG* fan of the Vitalicious VitaTop products ("maximum nutrition for minimum calories")--especially the Deep Chocolate version--so I was eager to try the BlueBran mix. But I have to say I was disappointed with this product. Don't be fooled by the photo on the box, people! The "blue bran" name is misleading--I found approximately 3 freeze-dried blueberry 'chips' in my batter. You will definitely need to add your own fresh or frozen blueberries to the mix, otherwise you'll just have plain old bran muffins.
Even after I added fresh blueberries to my batter, the end product was not very good--it was gooey and bland, with a weird after-taste. My family usually inhales the Vitalicious products, but these are still in the freezer.
I have two boxes of the mix left, so I'm going to try adding chunks of apple to the next batch, along with some cinnamon to give it some flavor, and see if I get a better result. Bottom line: Skip these and go for the Vitalicious Deep Chocolate mix.

I love the deep chocolate vita top muffins. I found them in the freezer section at Meijer one time and decided to try them. They are only 1 weight watcher point and they really curb my chocolate cravings. I got a coupon code from [...] and ordered some other flavors from the vitalicious website. So far, deep chocolate is my favorite. It is the most moist of all the chocolate flavors. Also, by ordering through Amazon.com, I can bypass the huge shipping fee that the actual website charges. Even with coupon codes, Amazon has been the cheapest way for me to purchase these muffins...After posting this review, the cost of the muffins has increased enough so that it is no longer cheaper to order them online. Buy them from your grocery store instead.

The Gluten-Free Pantry Muffin & Scone Mix, 15-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) Review

The Gluten-Free Pantry Muffin and Scone Mix, 15-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
...these muffins are a big disappointment. See that lovely BROWNED muffin top on box picture? Welllll, I've tried several boxes of these, using different oven temperatures, making them plain, with fruit, with nuts, with everything I could think of except chocolate (hmmm, maybe I'll try that!) The tops stay a pale, pasty WHITE! Sooo unappetizing. And false advertising, IMHO.
Now for the taste. Another disappointment. They are bland bland bland, blah, blah, blah! You MUST add additional ingredients or they are just plain, uh, RICEY tasting - and if you're an older celiac, you know what I mean. Those first corporate attempts at making GF mixes were hideous! These are no better. Yuck!
Now for the size. I'm a pretty doggone accomplished baker if I do say so myself, both prior to my diagnosis in 1985 with non-GF ingredients, and since, using mixes and baking from scratch. These just don't RISE! See the photo with that lovely dome muffin shape? Nuh-uh. Perhaps they use old, REALLY old leavening? Dunno. But they puff up only about 1/16" of a centimeter. Maybe. But I doubt it.
Now for the boxed ingredients. Cheesh, you have to add all of the EXPENSIVE stuff to make these work. Butter, milk, eggs, and fruit/nuts/whatever. Fer cryin' out loud, it's truly no more trouble, and a WHOLE lot cheaper to make muffins from scratch.
I desperately wanted to love these and give a great review. But I just cannot. Make your own muffins and save your hard-earned money for some of the Gluten-free Pantry's other mixes - I rate the following 5 stars without hesitation:
Country French Bread mix - absolutely delicious!! We use our bread machine and they come out PERFECT every time! And when we've used regular oven, in our french bread loaf pans, we add some toasted sesame seeds, and they are incredible.
Chocolate Truffle Brownie Mix - OMG - completely addictive!! Gotta watch out for these if you're on a diet. You'll want to gobble up the whole batch!
Beth's All Purpose Flour - quick & easy to use for all your baking (including those homemade muffins).
Spice Cake and Gingerbread Mix - delicious - and sooooo easy - I can prepare it faster than it takes my oven to heat up. (Isn't that one of the BEST reason for buying a mix?) I add additional cinammon, nutmeg, ginger - we like it that way.
Coffee Cake Mix - fantastic - and EASY - the crumble topping is included. Wonderful for a breakfast treat and NOT just for Celiacs.
So that's about it. Try it - you may like it. Hey - that's what makes horse racing! But don't buy a whole case in the event that you don't.
Regards to all you brave Celiacs out there. Let's hope that someday science can find a solution for us to make our lives a little easier. In the meantime, heaven bless these fabulous companies for providing us with these products.

Vitalicious Super Sampler, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24) Review

Vitalicious Super Sampler, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 24)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not a fan of "diet foods" so I was skeptical about this product but after looking at the impressive nutritional stats, I decided to give them a try. I am so glad that I did, they make breakfast something to look forward to and make a nice snack as well. I am a type II diabetic and control my blood sugar through diet and exercise alone keeping my carbs low in order to do this. A regular muffin spikes my blood sugar and leaves me hungry. These muffins contain a reasonable amount of carbs and a healthy dose of fiber and protein to help sustain you until your next meal. If you are a Weight Watcher, you know that it is rare to find a one point food that is both filling and enjoyable.
I've tried cranbran, double chocolate, and sugar-free banana nut and like them all. In truth the banana nut is a little dry but still enjoyable. If you compare these to bakery muffins, you'll be disappointed but then you must consider that a bakery muffin can have 700 calories and 25 grams or more of fat. If you compare vitamuffins to other healthy bake goods, they are superb. I highly recommend this product and encourage you to try it.
