(More customer reviews)This is such a fabulous cookbook that it is one of the few I have left in my kitchen. I am a women's health care nurse practitioner and am very interested in the way nutrition and diet affects health. This book is right-on by recommending a varied diet, rich in whole grains, vegetables, fish, etc. It doesn't limit any type of food and includes meat dishes and desserts. My favorite is the soup section, full of easy-to-make and delicious comfort foods (the pasta e fagiole soup is excellent). I am a fan of Dr. Andrew Weil's books and this cookbook is an excellent accompaniment to his diet and lifestyle advice (better than the cookbook he co-authored this year). The authors also include up-to-date information on the importance of eating omega-3 fatty acids, which many books leave out even though it is so important (for more on this read the excellent "The Omega Diet" by Dr. Artemis Simopoulos). This book does not advise skimping on fat either...it just emphasizes eating healthy fats. This book deserves a spot in everyone's kitchen!
