Staking His Claim is a sweet romance about the restorative power of love healing deep wounds. One of the strongest points of this novel it that the emotions of the main characters can be felt by the reader. The experience is what most normal, everyday people experience; fear of rejection, and a desire to love and be loved.Ms. Morris's characters are so realistic and relatable. The hero, Eaton, is a very likeable character both internally and externally, and his physical flaw managed to also make him more human. I wanted to see him receive the happiness he deserved.
Blake has cut himself off from women emotionally as a result of his fiancée running from his disfiguring war injuries. When he opens his door, he never expects to see an angel; to see the woman of his dreams and her precious cargo.

The heroine, Leslie, has made some pretty big mistakes in her life yet she fights to not allow her bad decisions to cripple her. Her struggle to open up to Eaton is so clear I could identify with it. Leslie is more cautious in her life due to the treatment from the man who helped conceive Allison, but Blake is absolutely sure that not only does he want Leslie but he also wants to be there for Allison. Blake must get Leslie to see past the age difference and trust again, as well as deal with the emotional baggage left over from the implosion of his own relationship.Blake is a wonderful character who is a true hero. I tremendously enjoyed reading the progress of the relationship that brought two wonderful souls together and the funny way fate seems to give us exactly what we need before we even know we need it. Stephanie Morris pens an outstanding love story with just enough spicy love scenes to satisfy any reader. Staking His Claim is about family, pain, loss and discovery that inspires the reader to believe that when it comes to love, anything is possible. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a wonderful love story to brighten their day.
