Trouble in Pembrook (Dog Watch) Review

Trouble in Pembrook (Dog Watch)

This book was read by our 9 year old son who loved it! It is a story about dogs forming a group to catch a vandal while finding their alpha dog (leader), Tundra, who has been missing for a couple of days. It is an easy read, discusses minor consequences, and has encouraged him to continue with this series.

Dr. Khalsa's Natural Dog: A Holistic Guide for Healthier Dogs Review

Dr. Khalsa's Natural Dog: A Holistic Guide for Healthier Dogs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the most comprehensive, informative, compassionately written and spiritually insightful book on dog health that I have ever read. Over the course of many years as a dog owner, I have read dozens of books on different aspects of canine health and well-being. I dub this book the 'holistic bible' for dog owners because it contains everything I have been looking for, all in one book:
it sets forth specific recipes that maximize nutritional value for dogs;
it provides logical, straightforward explanations and recommendations for holistic remedies and common health issues;
it provides accurate, easily accessible information regarding the sources for purchasing the appropriate vitamins, supplements and remedies; and,
it addresses the most painful of health challenges for dogs, along with fundamental advice as to how to either prevent or treat those concerns.
This is the first book regarding dog 'health' that I have found so lovely to read that I haven't wanted to put it down. Dr. Khalsa's overall style is erudite, elegant and delightful. Her writing is both eloquent and friendly, making this book a pure pleasure to read.
I wish I had this book in my hands before I began my years of nurturing my canine companions. I highly recommend it to every dog owner and potential dog owner, and believe it should be the core of any dog owner's library regarding dog health and well-being. No dog owner should be without this book.

Communicating with Your Dog Review

Communicating with Your Dog
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you really want to learn to communicate with your dog, this is an excellent book! I agree 100% with the other positive reviews in every way. When I bought this book, I had never trained a dog before. I was not only AMAZED at how quickly I was able to find a common language with my dog, but also at how many of the classic "A-ha!" moments that my dog and I mutually shared. With this book as my guide, my dog not only obtained her Canine Good Citizen Certification, but is now also a fully trained and liscenced Therapy Dog--a great honor and accomplishment and one step down from a working Service Dog! With a common language we are able to communicate wonderfully. Also, many of the commands can be combined to string along a fully functioning sentence which is always fun! I am often asked where I had my dog professionally trained and people are always impressed that I did it all myself. With a reasonable amount of intelligence, patience, and creativity, anyone can teach their dog the basic commands. True, the author is no comedian, but who cares.
FYI, some of the more advanced commands (such as 'jump') may at first seem 'ridiculous', but I have found when I need to tell my dog that I need her to get up into a car, or onto the scale at the vet, or even just to jump up on the bed to say goodmorning (which she knows she must have permission to do) its a lifesaver. I also can't live without the command 'leave it' (invaluable!) and if you are a puppy owner, the communication 'bells' worked so well for me that housetraining took under 2 weeks! My dog still uses the windchime I have hung on my back door to tell me that she needs to go outside--something I don't always pick up on if I am on the computer. I can't say enough good things about this book!

The Philadelphia Inquirer's reviewer called this book's previous edition "...the best canine behavior-correction book I've ever read." This brand new slightly enlarged edition is even better, with information n how dog owners can test their pet's "IQ", and instructions for teaching a dog to respond to twenty basic words. Author Ted Baer emphasizes a humane approach to teaching canine obedience. Full-color photos throughout help to clarify training details.

Very cute and engaging children's book! The kids in my family loved hearing and reading this book. They see a little white poodle somewhere and say "Look, it's Peaches!!" Peaches, the adorable private eye poodle, is on another adventure, this time with her neighbor friend. This book, like the others, includes many real life photographs of Peaches and the animal friends in her world. The story is told in an engaging rhyme and younger children thoroughly enjoy hearing the story and looking at the delightful pictures. Young readers benefit from the easy to read text. This is a great book for animal lovers everywhere!!

Peaches is a family pet poodle who has great powers to find things when no one else can. In The Missing Muffin Caper, Peaches is asked by her dog neighbor Jill to help find Jill's sister, Muffin. She seems to be lost and no one can locate her. Because it's important to help neighbors, Peaches puts on her "private eye hat" and she and Jill make a plan to look for Muffin. They search inside and out. At last, Peaches and Jill find Muffin safe and sound in a very surprising place. Jill and her sister are reunited and everyone is happy. Oh by the way, Muffin is a cat!
