Sweet: From Agave to Turbinado, Home Baking with Every Kind of Natural Sugar and Sweetener Review

I don't doubt that the recipes in this book result in tasty treats but the title is misleading - that is, the subtitle is misleading "From Agave to Turbinado, Home Baking with Every Kind of Natural Sugar and Sweetener." Yeah, I guess "granulated sugar" is "natural" so technically the subtitle is accurate, but I was looking for recipes that used _healthier_ alternatives to granulated sugar - like agave. The vast majority of recipes in this book include granulated sugar and/or brown sugar. Not at all what I was looking for - it's going back to Amazon.

The "I Can't Believe This Has No Sugar" Cookbook Review

The I Can't Believe This Has No Sugar Cookbook
Average Reviews:

I was very interested in this book due to my recent diagnosis of pre-diabetes. I've been advised to steer clear of simple sugars, esp. white sugar, white flour, rice and potatoes. I thought this book would be a great addition to my cookbook library, but alas it was not. Unfortunately the authors simply omit white sugar from the recipes, but still include huge amounts of simple sugars through white flour and fruit juice concentrates. If you are specifically allergic to white sugar, then this book might be for you. If, however, you're a diabetic trying to cut out simple sugars I'd pass on this book.

Instant Non Fat Milk Powder, 1lb. Review

Instant Non Fat Milk Powder, 1lb.

The powder is really fine, so it mixes into baking nicely. I use it with regular milk in pumpkin pie (instead of condensed milk) and the pie is just as tasty. But, when trying to mix it into liquid to drink I couldn't get it smooth, even when I used a whisk. I put it through a fine sieve (which is more work than justified) and even that didn't entirely smooth it out.
Good for baking as a dry ingredient, not so much for drinking.

I agree this is great to order splenda packets online. But Amazon has the 700 packet box for $15 or so, ... a better deal if you are big quantity user, or will go halves with a friend! Frugality means more money for other things, like BOOKS.
